  • This Day in Modern Medicine

Last week I went to the doctor to have my blood tested.  I have long since had issues with digestion.  Being uncomfortable after almost every meal was just the norm for me.  I was told that I was sensitive.  After doing a bit of digging I came across what one site called “A Silent Epidemic”.  Celiac Disease.  Gluten Intolerance.  Even I cringed at the thought that this was what could be causing my handful of random problems because it does seem to be the trendy “it” disease.  Well I was tested and I do not have Celiac disease.  I was told today that I am allergic to oat.  Oat?  I almost wanted it to be Celiac or a flat out gluten intolerance.  At least then I would know more about what is going on.  There are tons of sites that have plentiful amounts of information for Celiac or gluten intolerance.  Most sites that start out on the topic of oat allergy start talking about Celiac or gluten, and veer off course.  I’m frustrated by the lack of information.  I’m  most frustrated that my doctor had one of his nurses call me to tell me my results for Celiac came back negative.  Then she told me I was however, allergic to oat.  I asked her what that meant, and guess what she said. “Do you have access to the internet?”.  Why yes, I do! Haaa The internet at my finger tips and no answers anywhere.  I happened across another site that said not eating gluten or wheat products before testing can cause a false negative (my doctors office didn’t mention that).  To me the symptoms coincide more with a wheat or gluten intolerance, and since my doctor is too busy prescribing the internet for answers instead of using his over priced brain, I’m going to seek a second opinion.  This modern day in medicine you obviously have to be your own advocate.

This is perfect. Might I suggest doing this workout while watching your favorite 22-minute show (not including commercials)?

# something different to try

The gym is no fun.  I’ll do this at home.

No no no. That would be so wrong. You don’t sequel or remake cult classics.
